In Ontological Coaching, the exploration of the learning puts particular focus on the client’s way of being, how he or she shows up in the world in the domains of Language, Emotions and Body. So that the client can become more aware of the actions he or she chooses and can move in greater awareness towards a more effective and meaningful life.
As an Ontological coach, I see that as human beings, our reality or world view is shaped by many things within and around us. The stories we have been told by our family, our culture and our history; the assumptions that we live our life by; the way we make sense of reality; the beliefs and values we hold; the way we use language; the emotions we habitually fall into; the ways we move our body and hold our posture; the systems in which we live and work… All these elements go into forming the way we see the world and thus interact with it and create results.
In the Ontological coaching process, clients are supported in having conversations in which they can see new ways of thinking and actions to take, that are consistent with what they most care about. The clients practice new behaviours and new actions. At the same time, the conversations, which are held in a respectful and non-judgemental emotional context, allow for sincere reflection to build new cognitive and emotional practices in order to replace ineffective habits and create desired results, generating greater satisfaction.
